6 Feb. Edit, I know I’m late.
Okay, it took a while.
Mainly because I’m a 2nd rank lazy bum.
But I figure you all know that by now.
*Cries in the corner*
First of all, Happy New Year!
Quite a boring night, except from some fella’s almost burning down the entire park. But let’s forget about that.
Second,
I built a HLJ (Hobbylink Japan) Danbo (From Yotsuba&!) today.
Isn’t he cool?
Moving on!
Let’s grab some highlights of the anime I watched in 2009.
Yes, what *I* watched. So don’t be surprised if your favorite anime isn’t listed or something!
Let’s just go by alphabetical order and keep it short.
Akikan!
Oh, Akikan..
I saw your first episode on a con in January.. Yet I dared to watch more.
Also known as the *quality* anime that season.
So many drawing errors.. Well, that “dynamic” shot from Kurogane no Linebarrels still makes me laugh.
Ok, so Akikan was about cans turning into girls and fight each other to find out who the superior can is.
And threw away the plot somewhere mid-way. I don’t read the novels, but fanservice anime *do* tend to ignore plot.
Bakemonogatari
Infamous for all the scene-fillers by Shaft, which were actually filled in for the dvd releases thankfully.
Was an interesting show. Has a huge fanbase, but I’m not that into it.
Chrome Shelled Regios
I came for the Felli and stayed for the plot. This probably went for a lot of other watchers.
Will probably give the novels a read sometime. They should make a nice Felli figure that I can afford, too.
Clannad
It’s my duty as a Key-fan to watch this, so I did.
You get what you’d expect from a Key show. Drama, comedy. Mainly drama in the After Story part.
Kanon stays my favorite though. Now Angel Beats! is coming up and hopefully the Little Busters! anime I’ve been waiting a long time for.
Darker Than Black: Ryusei no Gemini
STOP HATING SUOU! ;_;
She was awesome.
I watched the first season in a half-asleep state every time, so I couldn’t remember much.
But I liked the second one. Could do without the Magical Girl transformation sequence every episode.
Really, c’mon! She doesn’t even get a spiffy outfit yet you show her naked!?
Eden of the East
“It had the best cinematic timing” or something, was it?
Another interesting show. Can’t wait for the movies.
The Johnny jokes were fun, too.
Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance
Wooh, already made an entire article and stuff about this one.
Great movie, Kickass fights, WTF end.
Go read the summary in the Summary section.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Besides the first episode, it follows the manga quite nicely if memory serves me right.
This is one of the shows that goes on through 2010, so much is yet to be seen~
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei
Fanservice Daybreak-like episode in the First episode, plot in the following three and in the final the sorta-actual plot from the Daybreak game.
Shame it ended. But now we got Umineko and Ookamikakushi.
The Failure of Haruhi Suzumiya
What? I typed it wrong? No, sir. No.
Gentlemen, I hated Endless Eight.
No, I really HATED Endless Eight.
At least the actualy new episodes were sorta enjoyable. And then they troll us with a movie?
Fuck, I’ll still watch it. Just for Nagato ;_;
Already read the novels, and the first movie trailer already spoiled almost.. Everything! Wahahaha!
Kampfer
“No one must know my secret”
The dirty pleasure of the year.
A show about a guy turning into a girl and fight others for no good reason!
Well, until it’s revealed in the semi-last episode.
Was mostly a fanservice fest, ignored the manga (No idea about novel. Both might ignore the novel..)
Akane’s great though. Both of them. I don’t care if you can’t hit a thing with that gun, I’ll still love you.
Kimi ni Todoke
Another one still running here in 2010.
The Main Char, Sawako is her name. Sparkles and Bubbles are her game.
I just watch it to waste time though. But it’s decent.
Kobato
Clamp show, auto-added to my watch list.
This is also still airing and I haven’t read the manga of it so I don’t know what to expect.
Will have to finish it before giving my final judgement.
Needless
My hotblooded favorite fightan-animu of that season!
Manga needs some faster translating though.
The anime has an original end, the manga still continues after the Simeon Tower explosion.
I made an AMV for Tsunacon 2010 using Needless and Gurren Lagann.
You can watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbZKmWG3A0Q
Negima! OVA
I LOVED the fight at the Gate against Fate & co.
In it for some Yue & Nodoka service.
OVA 2 delivered with some delicious Chachamaru and Chisame scenes.
Ah, can’t wait for #3!
Nyan Koi!
“An anime about cats. I swear!”
The cats quickly became sub-plot.
I don’t care how many people love the uh.. What wa she rname again?
The Mamba girl.
I’m more of a Delicious Twins person.
Season 2 should be coming some time. Manga has some great animation material to provide.
Pokemon: Arceus and the Jewel of Life
FUCK YEAH ARCEUS!
That will be all.
Go watch it. NOW.
Sacred Blacksmith
Katana > Swords is what the law in that world is.
I found it an odd show, won’t really reccomend it.
Seitokai no Ichizon
Favorite slice of life (if it is) of the season.
Ken is awesome. His harem is awesome. Mafuyu end is more awesome.
Loved all the references and Mokyu~
Sora Kake Girl
“Code Geass in Space”
Robo-louch, erm Leopard was funny. His naming sense for the parts of his colony too.
Baseball episode OUT OF NOWHERE, but it was all enjoyable.
I am your father.
To Aru Kagaku no Railgun
Still running again.
Anime is more slice of life/filler after the Levelupper Arc.
The manga is now in The Sisters arc. Doubt the anime will get to that though.
Umineko no Naku Koro ni
Deen, I am disappoint!
Really, read the novel before watching this.
Everything will have a better impact AND understanding.
So, that was 2009.
Will have to catch up some stuff.
Next post will be about my adventures at Tsunacon 2010 and maybe some more ranting about the delivery services here.
